A young Tetsuou was motivated to become a great cellist after seeing a performance by Giovanni Bazonni. He is aware, however, that his chances of realising his musical ambitions are slim given that he now resides on a remote Japanese island. Ikumi, a boy, stays with Tetsuou for a while one day.
Ikumi is the only survivor of a maritime incident in which he independently rescued his own life by swimming to Tetsuou's island. But, he makes an unexpected claim: he claims he followed the sound of lovely cello music to safety and is certain that the performer was Tetsuou.
